Christmas Lights With You

And finally we'll get to see the lights together, of only for once.

I watched Desolation of Smaug the other day, and I gotta say, all in all, I love this two. I was listening to Paradise Stars by Noah and the Whale and I broke down into tears.
I just want them to hang out one day and look at the stars together and feel free and be happy. They are both so young and they don’t quite buy all the stuff they are being told, and I think they feel really close to each other, they understand each other in a simple way. And I love that. Like when you find someone who shares your same sensitivities and you can’t believe there’s someone out there who understand you. It feels magical.

Still on a holidays mood!

Merry Christmas 2013!

Hope you're having a magical one, and that you get to build lots of snowmans, and eat fantastic food, or just gather with the ones you love and share the joy of the moment.

HAVE SOME WONDERFUL HOLIDAYS!

Nighttime Christmas

Marceline and Bubblegum Christmas

..it can be really sweet too!

I wanted to do some Christmas pieces, I am starting to get in the mood already, and then saw an ep of Adventure Time and my mind just clicked, and now here it is, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline share their Christmas presents, and I'm sure PB loves her mug present, deep inside! (or maybe not that deep)

Have a wonderful day!

Fall is falling

Autumn elf under a tree on sunset

"Under the branches of the brown tree
she sat to sing a melody.
She sang goodbye to trees and friends
for her stay on earth was almost gone.
She shall return when summer's gone.."

I was missing so much illustrating a quick thing, inspired by the mood of the day. And I feel I haven't paye d enough attention to this fall, no matter how much I've loved it. I feel I need to stop and sit under a tree and just watch time go by, smell the fall that's almost gone, and think of all the little things that can happen in a simple moment.

Hope you are enjoying fall, and though there are still many days to come (when it's still fall) I felt I needed to draw this.

Lost Tapes

Some time ago I was asked to do the art for the upcoming album by Lost Tapes released by Cloudberry Records and now here it is! Their music is really wonderful, so feel free to give it a listen, on their web, or on their bandcamp page!

I was inspired by the idea of simple sensible things happening on a quiet image, and in a way, I believe there's no better place to be than in a special spot in the forest where magic seems to happen, at the right time of the day. But a little secret is that any moment can feel like magic if we allow ouserlves to feel the magic of the moment.

I also did the art for the labels, inside the 7" album. Which are meant to be a prolongation of the main illustration, as well as the back cover. Added the river path as well as the beard scratches on the trees! (you know, the beard from the main illustration).

And here you have the back cover art, as you can see the meaning of it was as if the magic moment was fading as the night was getting darker, and so the lights are now off and there's no bear, just the scratches on the tree it has left behind.

Hope you like the illustrations and hope that you like Lost Tapes' music! You'll be able to order their new album from Cloudberry Records page soon enough!

You can  find Lost Tapes on:

Lost on a frozen forest

"And the road's still long but you come along and you hold my hand and you understand.."

I was trying around things and doing sketches for a project and somehow I did this in half an hour?? quite proud of this sketch. Had so much fun drawing the fox.

Now back to more work.

Fishes, cat and penguin ID

I did this a while ago, meant to be used as an ID, but I never did it. It's one of the many old drawings that I'll be finishing from now on.

As today I told myself that I would stop doodling stuf and just concentrate on my work you'll probably be hearing little of me, but I'll keep posting this unposted drawings and paintings, and maybe posting 5 minutes doodles on tumblr if I take breaks from work.

By work I mean big projects I wanna/have to do, and I'm so exited about working on them but can't really go much further if I keep taking time of the day in drawing other stuff.

So here is the first of the old drawings, hope you like it.

A Vampire's Amusement

So pull me closer and kiss me hard
I'm gonna pop your bubblegum heart

- Marina and the Diamonds

Because I couldn't help myself when I listened to Bubblegum bitch, and pretty much, 'cause I saw a lovely, lovely drawing done based on that song, too. So yep, PB and Marceline. They're so sweet! (silly joke)

This was meant to be a warm up doodle, and indeed it is, it's just that it took too much time? Well, now's time to go back to work.

ps. ....can you see the heart??

Pitch's longing

There are few who’d deny, at what I do I am the best
for my talents are renowned far and wide
when it comes to surprises in the moonlit night
I excel without ever even trying
with the slightest little effort of my ghostlike charms
I have seen grown men give out a shriek
with the wave of my hand, and a well-placed moan
I have swept the very bravest off their feet.

Yet year after year, it’s the same routine
and I grow so weary of the sound of screams
and I, Jack, the Pumpkin King  Pitch, the Nightmares King
have grown so tired of the same old thing

Oh, somewhere deep inside of these bones
an emptiness began to grow
there’s something out there, far from my home
a longing that I’ve never known..

Jack's longing - The Nightmare before Christmas

I was listening to The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack and the idea that Pitch was the boogyeman and that the boogyeman had some lines on the This is Halloween song pumped up and then I searched, did a drawing, and then Jack's lament started playing and I couldn't help myself but thinking of Pitch. I'd love to see Pitch singing a song!

Just a rough sketch, now that my computer seems to finally work again (fingers crossed) let's see if I can keep on drawing this days. I'll keep you updated with more news that are going on!

"The light of the summers that seemed to last forever; The shy candle that dances with the evening breeze; The smell of pinewood and the salt on the skin; The sea scum tangling among your hair" tried to translate it.

Some weeks ago I went to see Els Catarres, and could love all their songs but the most beautiful, as we had to leave the show just before it ended, and this was the finale song. Today I was listening to it and couldn't help myself. Also, it was a promise I made, to make a drawing based on their songs. Lately all I do is draw cute couples.

The idea of a summer love is really sweet and heartbreaking when autumn comes, but with autumn maybe the relationship grows on and on. And those dreamy nights of summer might turn into hot chocolate afternoons. Hope you're having a great September.

Feel free!

Don't give me a car.. really! hahaha I believe I have a thing for wind (as I've already said many times) and for speed. Since I was a child I've loved both. I don't know, I love its feeling so here it goes.

It's been a while since I've drawn a quick sketch like this one here, so I felt like drawing one, and this song (that I'm not gonna name) was playing and everything just happened.

Now this is a drawing to say bye to Summer but also, I believe I hadn't drawed a summer piece yet, this year. Well, anyway, hope you did enjoy yours and that don't hate September much, I know it's when work starts again, but it's also when so many good things start again, so don't be to curel to September. (It's one of my favourite months, and it's always been, though I tried not to say it much as a child, when everyone was just hating over it 'cause school had started again. I actually loved meeting old friends again.. yep)

Also, I love doing stuff and when things happen, and it always feels like a new start and a new chance to do things, September.

Enjoy yourself as much as you can! best wishes everyone! :)

Cats study

I did this a while ago on my sketchbook, as I'm trying to get better at drawing fluffy cats but also 'cause I'm trying to write a picture book for a contest, and it must be about cats.
Posting it now 'cause someone requested to see more of my cats (as I did post some a while ago on face and tumblr) and so, here they are.

Brush pen and a silver one I've got since I was 6 or 7 that I never though I would use again. There are Two pencils ones and I believe I used a black pen for some details.

Winter - Spring '13 Sketchdump. Part 6

You can spot a Merida with her hair pulled back with a tiny braid. And then just some pencil doodles. (hair was growing on!)

And here it starts, you'll see some guys with moustaches and beards and things, but I just had come home from seeing Ana Karenina and also fell in love again with Phobs drawings, and then this happened.

This one on the right is supposed to be North, though.

And yet some more. The writer was a beautiful man I made up, but I remember searching for someone wearing that same hair style and the glasses and everything and couldn't find it. But then another say I suddently happened across the photo of a writer (can't remember the name and can't find the photo again) and it wa him! I showed the picture to my sister and she agreed it was. So here you go, my writer existed once.

Also, young North on the bottom right.

And here you go, some Jack Frost for u all, and Jonny Pierce from The Drums!

Great Warrior! I love the comic by Madéleine Flores and you should really check it out, (here)
Some other random stuff and Ella from Ella enchanted (not the movie but the book! one of my favourite books when I was a child/teen).

And here we are. I'll try and do some more soon, but first I wanna go through old drawings that I never did finish.

Winter - Spring '13 Sketchdump. Part 5

Here you can see Amy from The Angels Take Manhattan and Tora all jewelled for some social event, I guess. Well, she's a queen after all! (also, popcorn coat!)

More Toras and a kind of Pikachu, I guess?

And well, you can guess which books I had started and everything that goes with them. I'm still not over Pitch sad story, nor any of the other main character's sad story, really..

Some more RoTG/Guardians of Childhood stuff and some sad stuff too. (Yes, it still hurts, and it's about a whole different thing than RoTG)

Feeling like drawing cute bears and things..maybe. (Aladdin!!)

Some more sketches, I'll post Part 6 in a moment! I was going far with RoTG and The Guardians Of Childhood by this dates.. (If you haven't yet spotted it, this sketch dump is posted chronologically).

Some more on the way!

Clair de Lune

"All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic."
- The Rainbow Connection.

Been working on it this last days, and I think I can happily say that after one year, I've done an illustration that can go under the title Clair de Lune, or what I had in my mind for it (listening to Isao Tomita's version).

On the other hand, this one has also been inspired by Cascading Slopes, I would like to say by the album, but it's not out yet and due to not being able to go to the shows on NY, I've only got a glimpse of its music. But anyway, I'm already in love with it and it already made me dream of out of this world places, as well as some magical spots like this one up here.

In a way, I'm happy that it didn't actually turn out the way I sketched it last spring (yeah, been thinking about it for quite a while, sincerely. Wanted it to look like an album's cover art, though I might have failed in that one thing) but this lasts weeks I decided to finally work on it. It was supposed to be at sunset, first, then at dawn, but I just couldn't resist the magic of the forest glowing in the night.

I never thought I love this much drawing backgrounds, forests and trees, but I love it. I love what you can do, I love how nature works, I love how much magic can be found out there! And it really calms me down, it makes me happier every time.

Somewhere out there I read: "Creative Process: 1) This is going to be awesome 2) This is hard 3) This is terrible 4) I'm terrible 5) Hey, not bad 6) That was awesome", I just thought it was so true, and so close to how I felt during the creation of this piece. So, after some moments of desperation and some others of big joy doing it, and after so many wonderful songs, here it is! Hope you like it!

Also, here is Clair de Lune from Fantasia, it was such a great help when I was stucked with this drawing!

ps. I'd like to ask you to listen to Clair de Lune (by Isao Tomita) with the drawing, just a little bit! I've got this feeling that it does add much more to it.

Winter - Spring '13 Sketchdump. Part 4

Did I draw a little Sam Winchester?
Also, here are some sketches I did for a drawing that I never got to post. The girl with the cat on the ruins.. I hope I'll finish it eventually and post it!

Doodling is fun..

..but doodling can also be heartbreaking.

Hey! I had not forgotten about the blog nor that I still have some sketchbook pages to post! I am sorry it took this long, but I wasn't in a mood for doing it, and also, I haven't been drawing anything that I feel is worth posting here, so I'm sorry for the late update.

Here you have it, 5 more pages of doodles and drawings I did during the last spring! You can also see a growing love for some TV series.. Also people I think I shouldn't have drawed, but they will never know so.. everything's alright.

Hope you like them! And I hope to get some more stuff done so I can get to post it soon enough!

A bright smile and flowers in your hair

"Then we grew a bit and romanticized the time I saw flowers in your hair"

I wasn't having the best of days, mostly because summer sun and hot tires me a lot lately, and I become unable to do much, so I decided I would draw, 'cause that always helps, and drawing people with brights smiles always makes me happy, I was also trying 'The Lumineers' for no reason at all, I had just never given them a chance, and I am pretty much liking them, their songs put me in a good mood and that's all I needed today!

I wish people smiled much more, when they felt like doing so, and not hide under 'coolness' how amazing they really are. It's not like you should always be smiling if you don't feel like doing so, but I believe if you want to and feel like doing it, you should smile, because that and some good laugh are some of the best things I can think of right now.

I've been reading this morning and it was mentioned someone who barely smiles but when they did it, it was a bright one, the type of sincere smiling childs give, and I kept thinking about it. I believe that as you grow old you realise the world that's around you, how it is not as little as you thought it was, and how many trouble there is, and even though that trouble exists, some people tend to forget the things that made them smile before. They are little and simple, but much more valuable than the biggest treasure (even more than Erebor's!!). And they still exist. They're still there waiting for you to smile for them.

What I mean is that it seems much more "acceptable" to say how much you hate or dislike something than it is to say how much you love a thing. There's nothing wrong about being enthusiast about something, about liking it, enjoying it and saying how much you  love it. So please don't be mean when someone says they like one thing and laugh at them for liking it that much.

It's wonderful to love!

New Summer '13 ID

Well hello! I made a new ID 'cause I was feeling like I needed a new one for various reasons. I actually did the last one so quickly, that it was full of mistakes and wushed lines which I disliked ever since the first moment. But here we are now, times goes on and so does life.

Hope that, in a way or another, you're enjoying your summer. I'm gonna be heading to Berlin tomorrow, and I'm really exited! First time ever! Everyone says I'll love it, so we'll see what I find out there.

Have a wonderful summer and hope you get to see some wonderful things and places, and that could be just around the corner, no need to travel to other countries for it. At least summer is perfect to rest under the shade of a tree and read a good book.

Snowy Day

I keep wishing for one..

Telling you the truth, I don't think I've ever been out there with snow really falling down, not the way it all turns to be white, with the mist, the snow falling and the grown covered in the snow that has been falling down.
Here it's much more of seeing it pretty much like a rain - snowfall. It hardly ever covers the ground, and the few times it has happened there's been trouble. But still I dream of it.

And I know it happens to not fit in this days of hot summer, but maybe for that very same fact, I wanted to draw something cold. But also because I've been watching (and hope I'll be able to read too) North & South. Which translates to really cold days and landscapes, and so much white (I feel in love with all the mills scenes, when cotton looks like snow), so I guess all in all, I couldn't help myself. I really wanted to draw a snowy landscape, cold, and white, really white with the mist and the white sky and ground as well as the snowflakes softly falling down.

Also I did it to practice the mood of a drawing, when colours, siluettes.. well, everyithing! works together to express something.

Hope you like it

Winter - Spring '13 Sketchdump. Part 3

Just done some more.. I'll keep uploading them. Hope you're enjoying this sketcdumps, though there's a lot of crappy stuff, I enjoyed doing them, and they hold so much of what I was going through all this months, good and bad.

The Hidden Well

If you look closer you might find the path to other worlds, there, through the waters of the old well.

'And there you'll find wondrous new and old sounds. Otherworldly.'

This surely took a lot to post, (I think I've been here for two hours now, and I got it finished Friday, but only decided to post it today, still got it too close to the heart to let it go) but it mostly took long to finish.

I got the idea for this drawing after reading a Mild Slopes post talking about Delia Derbyshire being of the right age and historical moment to find a door/way to Narnia (or other worlds). I must admit I loved the thought, so I sketched it, but then I got attached to the idea, and I started developing it, and that's how, 3 months ago I started the drawing.

The main sketch was just of Delia looking into the well 'cause I thought that would be another wonderful way to get to other worlds. (and also it made me think of the ponds through which Digory and Polly got to them).
When the path would be open, you'd see on the reflection of the calm waters, another sky, other trees, another light.. and that's what would catch your attention to look closer. But if you're not someone who likes exploring, you might never go to that part of the garden, where no one does now, where the old well still stands.
I loved exploring as a child, I have such great memories of it. I found little treasures and I hope you did too. Maybe a door to another world, maybe just something much more little, but yet, priceless for you. (I still love exploring).

Hope you like this one, and I'm sorry it took so long. Exams and work weren't helpful and I wanted to try hard on this one but also I had to deal with some art blocks in the way. Now, after so long, it's done, and I'm kinda worried of letting it go, but it must be done, and as I write this, I'm willing to finally post it.

Sant Joan '13

 - We buried the pains singing songs,
and the bonfire flames turn the night into day -

Today it's "La revetlla de Sant Joan" which may translate to St.John's eve, but it's quite a big festivity here. Saying 'hi' to the summer, on the longest day and shortest night of the year. There are bonfires (there were a lot more years ago) and people gather around them and throw fireworks and you stay up as long as your body can take it, and dance and jump and laugh while the fire projects both, light and shadow around you.

It was one of my favourites day of the year back when I was a child, mainly 'cause I had a bonfire just by my house. And it was really big! I have few memories of those days, but they're all so bright! I loved it and I would love it nowadays too, but it's to hard to be next to a bonfire, unless you go to some specific places. Also, we eat. We always eat. It's called 'coca de Sant Joan' and it's pretty tasty, but I don't like it that much.

Anyway, I still pretty much like Sant Joan, and I still think it is trully beautiful, and this year we'll have bright full moon too (that if it stops raining and the clouds go away).

Hope you're welcoming the summer on you own way wherever you are! :)

Here's a link that might explain better Sant Joan down here. Images do explain it better

On a Clear Day

- And every day I waited for you..

Just been remembering the days in Spring when the sky was of a deep blue and clouds as big as mountains. I don't know, I've always like those kind of clouds that seem to hide a forgotten building on their top. hahaha I keep rambling.

I started doing it 'cause I had kind of a block and nothing looked right, so I tried a new way (just the same but changing a bit) and it seemed to work out!

The thing is that right now my mind is singing The Drums so I can't really concentrate on what I'm writing. I don't know how it happened, I was watching interviews and stuff (not from the drums) and they were just mentioned as favourite music so, even though I was listening to some soundtracks and Ghibli and stuff, I couldn't help myself, and here I am,  trying to write while my mind is singing 'I tought my life would get easier, instead is getting harder, instead is getting harder...'.

Hope you like it, it's just a quick thing I think I needed to do. Now I'm gonna go read a bit.

Winter-Spring '13 Sketches Part 2

Here, have some more. More are on the way! Sorry this took a while. I just wasn't feeling like doing it rather than drawing, but today anything I was drawing felt alright, and I still needed to do something, so here we are. Also, some of the songs and writings I did on my sketchbook a while ago is still important, and more today. Just not a great day.

Hope you had a magical weekend anyway! And that you didn't stop doing what you love, whatever it is, as long as it doesn't hurt others..
