Summer feeling

"And bring the summer days, for my heart longs for the warm and quiet days."
This is a doodle I started out as a warm up drawing, but ended up caught in the details, and had to finish it, for myself. I know lately I haven't been posting much here, it is mostly because I don't have much time to draw (quality drawings), but if you want to follow up on my silly and not so silly doodles and drawings too, you can always check my tumblr where I post always fisrtly Tona001.

Hope you are having some wonderful spring days!

Christmas Lights With You

And finally we'll get to see the lights together, of only for once.

I watched Desolation of Smaug the other day, and I gotta say, all in all, I love this two. I was listening to Paradise Stars by Noah and the Whale and I broke down into tears.
I just want them to hang out one day and look at the stars together and feel free and be happy. They are both so young and they don’t quite buy all the stuff they are being told, and I think they feel really close to each other, they understand each other in a simple way. And I love that. Like when you find someone who shares your same sensitivities and you can’t believe there’s someone out there who understand you. It feels magical.

Still on a holidays mood!

Merry Christmas 2013!

Hope you're having a magical one, and that you get to build lots of snowmans, and eat fantastic food, or just gather with the ones you love and share the joy of the moment.

HAVE SOME WONDERFUL HOLIDAYS!

Clair de Lune

"All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic."
- The Rainbow Connection.

Been working on it this last days, and I think I can happily say that after one year, I've done an illustration that can go under the title Clair de Lune, or what I had in my mind for it (listening to Isao Tomita's version).

On the other hand, this one has also been inspired by Cascading Slopes, I would like to say by the album, but it's not out yet and due to not being able to go to the shows on NY, I've only got a glimpse of its music. But anyway, I'm already in love with it and it already made me dream of out of this world places, as well as some magical spots like this one up here.

In a way, I'm happy that it didn't actually turn out the way I sketched it last spring (yeah, been thinking about it for quite a while, sincerely. Wanted it to look like an album's cover art, though I might have failed in that one thing) but this lasts weeks I decided to finally work on it. It was supposed to be at sunset, first, then at dawn, but I just couldn't resist the magic of the forest glowing in the night.

I never thought I love this much drawing backgrounds, forests and trees, but I love it. I love what you can do, I love how nature works, I love how much magic can be found out there! And it really calms me down, it makes me happier every time.

Somewhere out there I read: "Creative Process: 1) This is going to be awesome 2) This is hard 3) This is terrible 4) I'm terrible 5) Hey, not bad 6) That was awesome", I just thought it was so true, and so close to how I felt during the creation of this piece. So, after some moments of desperation and some others of big joy doing it, and after so many wonderful songs, here it is! Hope you like it!

Also, here is Clair de Lune from Fantasia, it was such a great help when I was stucked with this drawing!

ps. I'd like to ask you to listen to Clair de Lune (by Isao Tomita) with the drawing, just a little bit! I've got this feeling that it does add much more to it.

Dec 5: It's finally Done!

It feels great when you finish your snowman, and you sit on the snow, so cold, but in a way, so warm, and just stay there, looking at what you've done. It's wearing your warm clothes and it's smiling at you, and, at the very first moment you think of a name, it becomes he.

I've always enjoyed doing snowmans, but it doesn't really snow here (just like once in a few years) and when it does, it's never much, so you don't have much snow to work with, and I've never ever done one which was taller than my hips, but I loved them anyway. And they were always there till the snow melted away..

The name of this piece has two meanings, as you can probably guess by "when" I'm posting this (11:30 pm, aprox). I've struggled hard today to get something done, but finally I'm happy about what I ended up with. It's cold and it's snowy!

ps. Tomorrow I'll hang up my Christmas decorations... can't wait!

Dec 4: Gleaming in the Night

I feel that somehow, magic is so alive when Christmas time comes, as if every little piece of earth was filled with magic, and that's so wonderful!

I saw Rise of the Guardians yesterday, and all I have to say is keep believing! There are great things waiting for you out there, and I don't even know how or when, but if you believe things will turn to be wonderful, then, somehow, they will.

Magic is waiting for you, so walk with your heart open this days, it's gonna make you good, everything turns to be wonderfully magic this time of year, and I can't help myself but saying wonderful and magic all the time, because that's the way I feel it, and as I'm writing this I swear you my heart is beating faster and faster.

Look at the little Christmas lights out there, can you feel it?

Dec 2: Hanging Christmas Decorations

It's the most wonderful time of the year
There'll be much mistletoeing
And hearts will be glowing
When loved ones are near
It's the most wonderful time of the year

Some little critters may help you hang this year's Christmas decorations and you'll wake up to a nice, magic surprise. So keep dreaming on, magic is there and more alive this time of year.

Hope you're enjoying this days and really looking forward to Christmas, because I am! Maybe here I sound too enthusiast and I don't know if I'm that much, or if I should. Anyway, here's the start of my little project.

I was planning on doing an Advent Calendar and so, do one drawing a day. I might have already failed (not a surprise) as I missed December 1, but today I woke up to the wonderful surpirise (and I hope it's true) that this year's advent calendar started today. So, whether it's true or not, here is the very first piece of this little calendar. Hope I'll be able to make one each day.

Listening to Searching For Heaven

That song has always made me so sad. I know I try not to bring it too close to my heart nor my life, because I know if I do, if I kind of "open my eyes", I'll completely fall apart. But no matter the trying, it strikes really hard every single time I listen to it (which is pretty often).

Is one of those songs that you should not listen to when you're sad, 'cause they can do more harm than anything else. Even though I love it to the bones and it has a special place in my heart, I feel like this with Searching For Heaven.

I know, I know, Searching For Heaven is not the only one, but today I've found something that's the main reason why I've done this drawing up here.

"The idea that teenage girls are listening to a song like 'Searching for Heaven' is a wonderful thought for me." J.G. (here the whole interview)

And so, the idea of a Teenage girl listening to Searching For Heaven really got me. And I don't know why, really. Maybe as I tend to do, I gave this more meaning than it really has. But it felt stong.
I don't know how to say it, but it was not something that I'd say I liked like "woaah yeah!" nor something that I disliked at all. It was just there, and it felt tangible, I'd say. And I don't know if I'm even making sense, I'd say no, but that's probably because I don't understand it myself. It just strucked hard, the whole quote, not just the idea. But I don't know..

Well, I don't know if I'm a teenager anymore or what (not literally though). I'd say sometimes. But just as some other times I'm an old lady and some other I'm still a 9 year old child (or less than that) I don't think age has really much to do with how you feel about yourself.
...this is a huge deviation from the main plot. Sorry.

Anyway, Teenagers listening to Searching For Heaven and probably, crying because of it.
