Clair de Lune

"All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic."
- The Rainbow Connection.

Been working on it this last days, and I think I can happily say that after one year, I've done an illustration that can go under the title Clair de Lune, or what I had in my mind for it (listening to Isao Tomita's version).

On the other hand, this one has also been inspired by Cascading Slopes, I would like to say by the album, but it's not out yet and due to not being able to go to the shows on NY, I've only got a glimpse of its music. But anyway, I'm already in love with it and it already made me dream of out of this world places, as well as some magical spots like this one up here.

In a way, I'm happy that it didn't actually turn out the way I sketched it last spring (yeah, been thinking about it for quite a while, sincerely. Wanted it to look like an album's cover art, though I might have failed in that one thing) but this lasts weeks I decided to finally work on it. It was supposed to be at sunset, first, then at dawn, but I just couldn't resist the magic of the forest glowing in the night.

I never thought I love this much drawing backgrounds, forests and trees, but I love it. I love what you can do, I love how nature works, I love how much magic can be found out there! And it really calms me down, it makes me happier every time.

Somewhere out there I read: "Creative Process: 1) This is going to be awesome 2) This is hard 3) This is terrible 4) I'm terrible 5) Hey, not bad 6) That was awesome", I just thought it was so true, and so close to how I felt during the creation of this piece. So, after some moments of desperation and some others of big joy doing it, and after so many wonderful songs, here it is! Hope you like it!

Also, here is Clair de Lune from Fantasia, it was such a great help when I was stucked with this drawing!

ps. I'd like to ask you to listen to Clair de Lune (by Isao Tomita) with the drawing, just a little bit! I've got this feeling that it does add much more to it.

You won't walk alone tonight..

..even if I can only give you my company, I hope that will be enough to help you stop feeling so alone.

I was just trying a little backround here. Done it all with the same brush and playing with colours, texture and lights. I just wanted to make something a little bit different. I wish I could do this so much better, I've still got a lot to learn.

On the backround there was this song by Heidi Berry, Firefly and Waiting To Fall by Virginia Astley. Actually, thanks to Virginia's music but also Tomita's, I've got so many images like the one up here on my mind lately (I've always had them, but I guess that thanks to that lovely music they are more vivid than ever) but I have not been able to draw them the way I'd like. And then, today something made that "click" and I was inspired again after a few days that I really seemed not to know how to hold a pencil.

Maybe one of this days, when I've improved in backrounds, I'll try to draw my dreamed place once again. (I did so when I was circa 12). Anyway, I believe this little path would be around it somewhere.

I love these places that seem to be filled with magic. I'd love to be there right now.

Snowflakes Are Dancing

It might just be for a few minutes or just some seconds, but that is enough. In that short time, as snowflakes fall from the sky, they dance. They dance in such a majestuous way! They go up and down, turning and turning around, one hand raised, eyes closed, slow movements and a soft breeze to guide them. When they finally get to the ground, they fade with the snow and die. But if you look closely, you will see their happy faces because they are glad to give you the best performance you have ever seen.

Been listening to a wonderful album all night called "Snowflakes are Dancing", done by Isao Tomita, and well, you know, snowflakes are dancing! I actually thought some small text would sweet it and maybe make it a little bit magic, so I made up something. I'm just so glad I've been introduced to this album, I'm really, really thankful. So.. Thanks!

Those tunes are just really wonderful, and things like this drawing above are the ones that came to my mind while listening to it, as well as the text. I don't know really, but I'm glad this came out the way it did, I just hope this next winter I'll see some snow. I really hope so!

I've used as a small reference, maybe more a guide than a reference, Disney's snowflakes from Fantasy, 'cause I've always thought those where wonderful, and wanted to do something like that. Hope you'll like this one. And I hope there's more magic to come!
