Dec 6: Drawing by the Tree

I'm sorry, I did not have much time today to do anything I got planned to do. I just worked traditionally so... 

Actually, I did everything I had to do, but in fact, did not finish one thing.

I spend today decorating everything for Christmas and I did had much fun with it! Hope you had a great time too and that you're enjoying the way your home looks now that everything is brighter with some little lights here and there.

I'm gonna be sitting by the tree just listening to christmas music and drawing and drawing.. goodnight.

Summer's End

I drawed something for Judith Viorst's poem "Summer's End". Sorry it is an awful photo. (Maybe I'll scan it someday)

I just wanted to try an illustrate a text this way. I was really inspired by Pauline Bayne's work (not only the amazing drawings, but when she used to illustrate cooking books or things like that) so I did this trying to reproduce the last Summer flowers, and the sunflowers are dying (some of them).

I've never really felt completely sad for summer ending, 'cause you know, then comes autumn, and as you might have guessed already, I love autumn. But it is always sad to leave things behind and also, being helpless at keeping the things you love with you. 

You give the best of you, you have the best intentions, but that's still not enough.

Anyway, good end of summer and start of autumn! Here rain has arrived, and with her, a little bit of cool air. I hope finally we'll have some autumn weather!

The Drums Study

So as I told you some days before, I needed to practice, and so I did. I was searching through photos when I come across this, and I decided that this was the one, so I started, and drawed and drawed, and I know this is just a rough sketch, but I'm proud of myself, after so many time, I still remember how to draw using references, and that felt alright. I want to keep practicing!

Just to tell you, things like this really help me, not at first, but as "days go by" (oh, yeah, I'm just so clever, jk) I realise the practice gave its fruits.

Today has been, actually, the very best day to post this 'cause something so nice just happened to me. I was walking into the kitchen when in the radio I heard "The Drums show in Primavera Sound" and then their music started playing, the live version, you know, with everything in it, and it was so fantastic! It felt like being there once again, seeing the Drums live (though I could not be in Primavera this year). I know I could go into the internet and just go through the live shows, but it's much more magic when it's a surprise!

Well, hope you like this little drawing, I'll keep on trying my best to improve.

It's a Brrrrrr Birthday

This felt perfect to draw. I've been struggling so hard not only to draw forest animals but also to bring alive all my tradiotinal drawings.. I mean, I've used the scanner this time! Oh! it's actually a little bit annoying to go and scan your stuff, but it is much more better this way.

I don't really know what was on my mind, but suddently, the idea to draw a bear in his birthday day would be so great! so I tried, and I am so glad I did. I was afraid I would mess it all up because, you know, it's a bear! And I don't really know how to draw bears, and I did not use any reference. So what I did was close my eyes and remember any bear I've ever seen. And I think it worked! I hope so. And I hope you'll like it.

So with this, you'd better listen to a magic, soft, forest melody. A sweet one, which would be playing on a forest party with all the other animals there. Not too party music, just something cute and maybe kind of a happiest melody? uhhh..

Do you think he will like the present? though, you see it's not really well wrapped, but 'cmon, the animals did it, and their hands are not like ours. They did their best though.
